Rotary Representatives to UNESCO, the Rotary Inter-Country Committees and the Governors of Districts of France are organizing an international conference on “Building Peace with Rotary and UNESCO” on Saturday 4 April 2015 at UNESCO Headquarters in Paris.

Rotary International President Gary CK Huang and other Rotary leaders will attend the event.

The program of this conference will focus on the resources available to Rotary, UNESCO, and the ICCs to further peace and more specifically civil peace—the one peace that can contribute to build human relations:

•          Intercultural dialogue in conflict areas such as the Balkans, the Middle-East, the Mediterranean region, or Africa.

•          Peace through service with efforts toward education for all and literacy, clean water partout, youth expectations towards ethics, the Rotary Peace Centers and the role of their alumni.

•          The peace initiatives of the ICCs or how a network of 300 committees all over the world can contribute to mutual understanding and conflict resolution.

•          RI President Gary Huang as a representative of a continent that will play a major role in defining the world’s future will share his vision.

Finally, the participants will draft a Peace Declaration to complement those of Berlin and Lisbon, which will rely on Rotary’s strength as an organization and on the firm commitment of Rotarians to serve their movement.
