Description
Considering the current situation, the opening of the exhibition is postponed / We will keep you informed as soon as possible
The exhibition consists of the artwork of eleven Palestinian artists who produced their work during the spread of the Coronavirus disease. The artists worked at a time of total restriction ranging from self-distancing to curfews and full-lockdowns in Palestine and other parts of the world. The art was initially digitally shared with the audience. The artists were commissioned by the French Institute of Jerusalem, in collaboration with: Al Hakawati Theatre, Khalil Sakakini Cultural Center, Sareyyet Ramallah, Shababeek Gaza.
The artworks exhibit many diverse individual perspectives of the human experience in isolation and living through a pandemic. They tackle and unpack the complexities of the political and socio-economic context, in addition to the societal and collective issues in Palestine and around the world. Each artwork is in itself an experience that gives the space to be interpreted and perceived in many different ways. The plethora of individual experiences that each of these artworks provide intertwine with each others’ local and global contexts. Namely, colonial and socio-economic-political contexts, and through the intertwined comprehensive context of a global pandemic and global neoliberal economy.
This exhibition was curated by Adele Jarrar.
