FACULTE D'ECONOMIE DE GRENOBLE CONFERENCE SERIES ON THE NEW MILLENIUM ECONOMIC ISSUES : « SOCIAL DILEMMAS AND COLLECTIVE ACTION : FINANCIAL REGULATION FOR A SUSTAINABLE SOCIETY » In the face of unexpected events of societal magnitude, such as the current Covid-19 pandemic, the preventive organization of public action is a prerogative of society’s viability. In economic life, financial stability is to the viability of society what public health is to the lives of citizens. Aiming to contribute to a relevant transformation of our socio-economic models, this issue is addressed by building on the work on Social Dilemmas (conflicts between private-interests and public-interests) and Collective Action (achieving collective goal through cooperation between individuals) concerning the definition of public/private goods and the scope of market mechanisms/public intervention.
